Roosevelt Academy educator Ray Cruze is this year’s recipient of the Growing the Future Award.
The award is presented by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, which had this to say: “For over 30 years, Ray has empowered students through agriculture education, helping them build skills, confidence, and a sense of purpose.”
Cruze, a longtime ag teacher and FFA advisor at Roosevelt, was recognized for his work with the school’s Land Lab, where students receive hands-on instruction in commercial grade greenhouse and nursery facilities. In addition to learning real-world technical skills, students also help maintain the Land Lab facilities, making them feel responsible and proud of their work.
Thanks to Cruze, Roosevelt Academy has one of the most innovative ag programs in our district. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!
