Three more National Merit Scholarship winners have been announced from Polk County Public Schools.
Congratulations to Lucas Auto, Abigail Jennings and Navin Lall, all from IB Bartow.
The trio were among 2,500-plus National Merit winners announced today; each scholarship is financed by a college or university that the recipient plans to attend. Florida State University financed the scholarships for all three IB Bartow winners.
PCPS now has five National Merit recipients for 2025-26; Jacob Heist and Indrani Nakka from IB Bartow were announced last month. The district had four total National Merit winners in 2024-25.
National Merit winners, selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors, are “judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies,” according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The National Merit program evaluates students based on their academic records, test scores and difficulty of subjects studied, as well as their involvement in school and community activities.
Additional winners will be announced in July.
